First few....

On a visit to Edinburgh one Sunday with my husband and our faithful Chocolate Labrador, Charlie, we went to Holyrood Park for a walk and proceeded up to Calton Hill for the view.  At Calton Hill, we met up with some family, so I got to practice working with children & animals on my first outing!  Anyway, enough of the text, here are the photos (comments refer to the photos above them):

Where to start?!!

Well, where do I begin?  A few weeks ago, I became the owner of this:
It's a Nikon D90 SLR camera.  Impressive, eh?!

I also got these with it:
(I got the English version of the above, this was the
only image I could source at short notice)

As a result, I am all set to start exploring the world of proper digital photography! To start taking amazing pictures in stark quality that will wow my family and friends and make my digital photo frame really stand out in my living room (if I ever get round to taking the frame out of its box).

I started taking pictures once I had read the basics about the automatic settings in both books and then flicked through the more advanced settings chapters about aperture, exposure, shutter timings...  Baby steps, I thought, baby steps....

I will now upload some of the photos that I have taken with my camera in the last few weeks and you can let me know what you think.  Any suggestions and advice are absolutely welcomed and appreciated!
